In 2014 I was having trouble painting granite. While I was working on location I couldn’t see the color of the rock. It all just looked golden tan. I did a series of monochrome studies.
Those turned out nice enough…my dad thought they were awesome actually. But when I got home, I decided to try turning one into a full color painting, and making it larger than the little on location studies. It was fun working out in my garage-studio for a couple nights. I’m not sure if the colors are right, but a friend told me he liked it, so I’m posting it here. This is 16 x 20″ oil on board.
