Dad, Sue, Clint and I went to Ed's and Mary Ellens house for some overdue family time, and some mellow climbing.
My son Clint belaying his mom up West Face of Grand Central tower 5.8 in the peshastin pinnacles west of Leavenworth. This route is a little bit runnout between bolt 2 and 3, but safe enough if you can keep your cool on 5.4 friction. The other 8 bolts are very close together and very safe. All the bolts are good. A beautiful climb!
Sue following another 5.easy route on sunset slab. Bring all your cams for this place, even a few tri cams. There is lots of trad gear in slots and pockets.

check out that low angle. This is fun stuff! Bring your big cams though. I placed a 7 inch bigbro in a pocket to supplement the sparse bolts.

Ed and Mary Ellen(uncle & aunt) built an earth home next to the pinnacles. They used dynamite to blast a cave into the sandstone of ollala canyon on a steep hillside. They are so far underground they had to use road building bridge beams to support the ceiling in case of a landslide. You could park a semi truck on the roof. The house is cool in summer, warm in winter with minimal electricity needs. It's really an amazing house, got featured in the newspaper. Ed and Mary Ellen built it themselves.
You can walk to my aunt and uncles house from the pinnacles. It's just over the ridge to the west about a mile. My aunt has a huge garden and canned something like 24 jars of tomatoes this year.
